Outward Bound Internship

Outward Bound Internship

Position: Marketing / Communications

Number of positions: 1

Length of Internship: 9-12 weeks

Are you looking for a fun yet challenging internship in the field of marketing and communications? Are you an easy-going person with a positive attitude who works well in a team environment? Well a marketing and communications internship with Outward Bound in Cape Town, one of the world’s most beautiful cities, is an opportunity you simply cannot pass up.

You’ve probably heard of Outward Bound, one of the world’s leading international non-profit experiential education organizations. Outward Bound aims to positively affect change in the lives of young people through holistic, sustainable programs that center around outdoor activities. Its mission in South Africa is “to empower young South Africans with the character, will, values, and self-belief to live their lives to the fullest and to consistently make the right choices.” Outward Bound seeks to transform the lives of young, marginalized South African youth by breaking the perpetuating cycle of poverty and crime in which young people today are trapped.

While working for an organization that espouses an extremely good cause, this internship will allow you to get invaluable hands-on experience in the exciting fields of marketing and communications. At Outward Bound, you will be working with a dynamic team of dedicated volunteers and full-time staff members. Your main task will be to complement and assist in the day-to-day operations of the Regional Marketing and Fundraising Manager at the Outward Bound offices in Cape Town. This will involve helping to design and implement marketing-based projects. Your responsibilities will include marketing and events coordination; online research and data capturing; distributing the online newsletter; assisting with fundraising; editing reports; website maintenance; and participating in the soccer program for volunteers. Computer literacy is required for this position – as is a fun, positive attitude and a willingness to meet new people. You may also be given the opportunity to participate in particular Outward Bound activities, where you will get to make connections with other young local South Africans of different backgrounds. If you are a self-motivated person with an interest in the fields of marketing and communications, an internship with Outward Bound would be perfect for you – so go ahead and apply!
