Success Motivation Institute (SMI)
Position: PR and Marketing Intern
Number of available positions: 1
Duration of internship: 12 weeks
The concept behind SMI:
"Most people only tap a fraction of their capabilities, never even scratching the surface of possibilities lying dormant within themselves. They do not make the progress they would like to make and are fully capable of making. Why do so many fail to reach their potential? Simply because they have not clearly defined their goals! At SMI, we believe success is the progressive realization of worthwhile, predetermined personal goals - that success is a journey, not a destination."
SMI is an international company located in more than 60 countries around the world. Your mentor will be Greg Walpole, the president of SMI South Africa. Mr. Walpole has more than 25 years of working experience in sales and marketing and is a well-respected member of the Cape Town business community. Exposure to Mr. Walpole’s business technique will give you an invaluable experience. Typical internship tasks include contacting business professionals, answering telephone calls, drafting emails, handling liaison duties, organizing and arranging meetings, and assisting with client service. This internship will also involve a PR/ internet marketing project to be independently conducted by the intern. Please contact us for specific details about this project.
To apply for this internship, you must meet several of prerequisites. As an applicant, you must be studying or have studied a business or commerce related field at your home university. You must also have a working knowledge of internet marketing techniques. Most importantly, you must be willing to take risks and work outside your comfort zone.
The following is a message from Mr. Walpole:
“I enjoy working with international students, particularly because by choosing to work in an environment so far removed from home, you have the maturity and confidence necessary to forge a successful professional career. There will be times you feel as if you’ve stepped outside of you comfort zone, given that this is not a culture you are familiar with. Yet overcoming this adversity will strengthen your professional resolve.”
