If this cause appeals to you, you should definitely consider an internship with the Refugee Centre. As an intern, you will be able to participate in a variety of the day-to-day activities of the centre, depending on your interests. There are three core areas of the internship openings at CTRC: Social Services, Business Administration and Educational Services.
The social services internship position involves refugee screening, where the newly arrived refugees seeking refugee status are interviewed and a case file is created. With the help of an interpreter, you will ask the refugee a series of questions about his or her family, reasons for seeking refugee status in
If you are interested in counseling or education, you should consider the educational services internship. This internship will give you the opportunity to help conduct training and educational services for refugees. You will also get the opportunity to participate in therapy and counseling sessions, as well as various support group meetings and workshops for refugees. If you are the kind of person who enjoys helping people and working with people from disadvantaged backgrounds, this would be a fantastic opportunity.
The business administrative internship entails assisting with daily administrative tasks, telephone communication and budgeting. You will also be involved in preparing and submitting grant applications and other appeals for funding.
