Professional Internships in Cape Town

Cape Town internship accommodation & lifestyle

Our staff will help you locate housing in Cape Town for the duration of your stay. Most participants choose to live in a fully furnished house or apartment with other VAC in a location near their internship sites. Regardless of your living requirements, we will work closely with you to identify the housing option that best suits your needs. We take all the necessary measures to prepare your living space prior to your arrival so you have the freedom to being exploring Cape Town from day 1. Visit the "example housing" link to view pictures of standard participant housing arrangements. Monthly rental ranges from R1,500 to R3,000 (visit THIS LINK for the daily exchange rates), depending once again, on your personal housing needs. You are welcome to locate your own housing though we provide this service to participants free of charge.

Most students will be living in an area of the city called Observatory, which is one of the most exciting student neighborhoods in all of Cape Town! Observatory, or “Obz” as locals call it, is surprisingly cosmopolitan given its intimate size; much of this unique vibe is attributed to people like you, our international visitors. It is not uncommon to overhear conversations in several different languages while walking along the street. Yet, Obz is also intrinsically South African. Living in Obz and experiencing its cultural and political vibes will help you better understand, on a greater scale, the complexities of the “new” South Africa.

The sidebar on the right is the Cape Town “Lifestyle” section that details a variety of activities and places you can enjoy when you’re not at your internship. Whether you're a soccer fanatic, wine aficionado, aspiring surfer or an avid hiker, there are activities that will complement your lifestyle.
