Sustainable energy internships are part of a package that has been designed to educate our interns on the deeper issues that affect our planet. For many centuries, we have abused the resources of our planet, mining it for oil, coal and natural gas. Soon, all these natural energy resources will be depleted and we shall be left with nothing to propel us forward into the future. Companies, governments and individuals around the world are devoting time and skill towards solving this inevitable dilemma. So, how can you get involved?
Research has identified a multitude of viable alternative energy sources: wind power, wave power, geothermal power, tidal power, solar power and biofuels, to name but a few. These are all technologies which have been designed to harness sustainable natural resources to improve the efficiency of our current power sources, although they may not have the same power output that standard fuel sources generate. This is all continuously changing and many fuel sources now offer a combination of these sustainable energies alongside conventional sources. We have taken great strides to overcome our previous eco-unfriendly ways, such as installing hydro-operated turbines in dams and converting whole fields into ‘solar crops’ as they are so aptly named. So then, what is it that you can do to keep our planet’s energy resources in check?
