Think Twice is an innovative non-profit organization that develops and facilitates programs to educate young people and adults about issues like sex, relationships, HIV/AIDS, and child abuse. At Think Twice, you will be working with a dedicated team of six full-time staff members, as well as a number of volunteers – mostly young people from local communities with a passion for helping others. As an intern, you will be able to interact and form meaningful friendships not only with the Think Twice team, but also with the children, teens, and/or adults with whom you will be working.
Think Twice has three main programs: an Early Childhood Development program, a high school program, and a program for adults and caregivers. The Early Childhood Development program hosts workshops and activities at school and after school for children as young as four years old. The program recognizes the importance of intervening in the lives of young people from the earliest of ages, during the formative years, so as to have a positive impact on the child’s development. An internship with the Early Childhood program is perfect for a fun-loving person who enjoys working with kids.
If you prefer working with teens, then you may want to consider the high school program. This program provides classes and counseling during school, as well as discussion groups, informal meetings, and workshops after school. The topics discussed range from reproductive health issues, HIV/AIDS, love and relationships, and the media. Think Twice aims to provide a safe context for young people to freely discuss the issues they face in their lives, and to empower these people to make responsible decisions and lead healthy lives. As an intern, you will come to understand the importance of simply talking with people, and how much of a difference this can make in their lives.
Think Twice also provides a program for parents and caregivers. This program provides workshops that give parents valuable skills to address the problems their children are facing.
