As an education intern with the Shine Centre, you will work directly with children from schools to provide them with tutoring and homework support, as well as to develop their language and phonological awareness through activities such as paired reading, writing stories, and playing games. During these sessions, you will give your learning partner your full attention, providing them time to think without a sense of urgency, and building their self-confidence. You will also have the opportunity to help teach art classes, run a garden project, assist in the school library, and participate in the Shine Centre’s bi-weekly multi-sensory intervention program called Literacy Hour.
