"It would have been extremely difficult to fathom before my arrival in Cape Town what I was to experience under the guidance of the Volunteer Adventure Corps program. I came to Cape Town to fulfill an internship for a master’s program requirement but left with more than I could have imagined. I acquired knowledge, experience, friendships, and great memories. Most importantly, I learned not to feed baboons because they are, in fact, wild and dangerous.
The Volunteer Adventure Corps program was a perfect mixture of independence and guidance for my internship placement. While VAC staff was always around the corner for advice and even rescue from bizarre situations at the Swaziland border, I felt as if Cape Town was my city to discover. Friday activities with other VAC members and staff were always something to look forward to when winding down from an exciting week at work. My choice to become a part of the VAC program and the experiences I acquired from it will certainly be noted as one of the best chapters of my life!"
