"Everywhere I go, people wanna know, 'how was South Africa'? And every time they ask me, only one word comes to mind.....AWESOME!!! Besides actually participating in an internship, there are SO MANY things to do. Hiking up mountains, jumping off bridges, diving with sharks, shopping at the local markets, the possibilities are endless. So of my best memories include our 5-day Garden Route trip, SCUBA diving in Simonstown, our 4th of July party bus (it was a good night!) wine tasting in Franschoek and the list goes on and on.
"The VAC crew are also some of the best people you'll ever meet. At first I had no idea what to expect when it came to personalities, but those guys/gals are awesome. Sean once told me that finding my internship was a challenge, but finding one just shows me how committed they are to helping people find quality internships in Cape Town. I have some great memories of the entire VAC team. Sean, Oliver, John, Simon, Joan, Brittany, Gabby, and Sly, you are some of the greatest friends I've ever had.
"If anyone ever gets placed at the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel, Chris can be VERY intimidating at times, but he wants to make sure his employees are having fun. He's a good guy. He's always giving constructive criticism on whatever you do. The best people to look for while working there are Brynn and Zulfa at Guest relations. I got to work with them for 12 weeks and we had some good times. Just try not to be a pain in the repunsal (don't know what it means?..ask Brynn) This was an excellent internship site.
"The VAC experience doesn't come cheap. I understand it can be expensive, but there are ways to budget yourself. Food is very cheap, especially meat; you'll only pay around 3 U.S. dollars for a pair of steaks! Try to avoid eating out a whole lot. I actually learned how to cook for myself while living there. Anyways, its not going to be cheap, but its not going to be super expensive either. The question is, how much are you willing to pay for the best damn time of YOUR life?
"It's worth it....do it!!"
