Cape Town’s coastline is a smorgasbord of fun water activities.
1. There are great surfing beaches at all levels of expertise to choose from that are a short drive from Observatory.
2. Snorkel & Dive with Seals in False Bay with the legendary Steve Benjamin. You can rent GoPros from them for amazing photos of seal pups and underwater wildlife!
3. Waves not your thing? Splash in mellow rock pools that are slightly warmer than the usual cold temperatures. Explore the coast on your way to Cape Point at Boulder’s Beach or Miller’s Point– Simon’s Town, Smitswinkel Bay, and do a shipwreck hike in the reserve! For nearby tidal pools, have you checked out Maiden’s Cove near Camp’s Bay? Here’s a whole list of ocean pools! If you want to skip the salty sea and dive into a public swimming pool for under R20, go here. There is even one in Observatory, on Willow Rd, open from 10-5pm with a grassy area to lay your towel. change rooms, toilets, and entrance is R6.
4. Go on a Eco Sea Safari at the Waterfront! South Africa has abundant wildlife on land at sea to enjoy! Sometimes, whales & dolphins like to join alongside the boat to say, ‘Hi!’
Tell us about the amazing ocean fun you’ve had. We’d love to add your suggestions to our list!
