Naomi participated in a refugee assistance internship in Cape Town with VACorps in 2016.
“My overall time as a VACorps intern will be an experience I will carry with me for the rest of my life. You learn to grow as a person and truly embrace the fact that you are living in a foreign country on your own – and it is wonderful! I have had the time of my life and am so thankful to have had this time here. I will take a tremendous amount away from my internship for it helped me grow in many ways.
“Like most things in life, my internship wasn’t what I expected, but in the end this turned out to be something good. It taught me to be self-motivated and empower myself to see the change that needs to be done. The staff at my internship was so friendly and working with refugees was unlike any work I have ever done before. I have truly grown from this experience and am really grateful for it.”
