Kayla graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in December 2019 where she studied her B.A. in Public Policy with a Second Major in Sociology. She joined the VACorps program in January 2020, and participated in the VACorps Human Rights Internship Program.

“I found VACorps because I was looking for an independent study abroad program in Africa. I was interested in the program description and the description of Cape Town. However, I was convinced that I wanted to go when I read the testimonials of VAC alumni. People talked about receiving guidance and support and getting the opportunity to explore the city. This was true of my experience as well. After reading testimonials, I had high expectations and the experience I had met all of those expectations.
