Project Description

Immerse yourself in Cape Town’s startup culture, which is driving the technological revolution in Africa.

Cape Town is at the epicenter of business innovation in South Africa and is recognized as the leading destination for startups in Africa. With very favorable exchange rates and a deep talent pool, tech companies from around the world are looking to establish a presence in Cape Town. Within the backdrop of this rapidly evolving sector of the South African economy, we are thrilled to offer a special program that combines guided mentorship in a classroom environment with experiential learning.

  • Have you ever wanted to start your own business?
  • Do you admire the achievements of entrepreneurs?
  • Do you consider yourself creative but have no academic background in business?
  • Do you have a university degree but are currently trying to figure out what to do with your life?

If your answer is yes to any of these questions, we have the perfect solution for you! We will create an internship for you at startup company in Cape Town’s exciting startup ecosystem, which is known as the Silicone Cape. Your internship supervisor will likely be a successful entrepreneur who will teach you how to conceptualize and launch a startup business. At the culmination of your internship, you will be ready to begin your own journey as an entrepreneur.

Participants of startup internships must have a great work ethic and display creativity, and enthusiasm. Supervisors may demand longer hours than a typical internship.

Cape Town business startup internship highlights from VACorps Alumni:

“I loved working in a 1st world economy in a 3rd world country because it was an amazing mix of cultures and people. An internship highlight was receiving the opportunity to travel to Kampala, Uganda and Johannesburg with my company. I absolutely loved my team. Working with startups from across the continent has been fascinating as well. Gaining exposure to the explosive economic growth in Africa will definitely impact my future job searches. I would recommend the program for the quality internship placements and ability to meet a load of new people from across the globe.” — Ben Caine
