This Friday we’ll be heading to Intaka Island, a 16‑hectare wetlands and bird sanctuary in the heart of Century City. It’s home to over 120 bird species and 177 indigenous fynbos plants, offering a peaceful escape and a chance to connect with nature right in the city.

We’ll enjoy a relaxed afternoon exploring the walking trails and bird hides, spotting local wildlife, and learning about the island’s conservation efforts. There’s also the option of a short boat ride along the canals for a unique view of the wetlands.

• Meet at: VACorps office
• Departure: 1:00 PM sharp
• Return to Obs: around 4:00 PM

Please bring / wear:

• Water and snacks
• Comfortable walking shoes
• A warm or windproof jacket
• Hat and sunscreen
• Camera

It’s going to be a wonderful chance to unwind, enjoy the fresh air, and discover one of Cape Town’s hidden gems.
