Process
Applying to VACorps
Discover why, for over 15 years, interns have chosen VACorps for their Cape Town internship program
Ready to apply? Follow these simple steps
1
Complete our short online application so we can learn about you and your goals for the program. This is where we’ll collect basic info and availability
2
Chat with a Program Advisor to discuss your goals and interests . This casual phone or video conversation allows us to get to know you better while answering any questions you may have.
3
Secure your spot by paying the refundable deposit if accepted.
The time is now to explore, connect, and invest in yourself in Cape Town. Let us match you with an experience that counts.
What is the placement process?
After acceptance, we initiate the process of finding you the ideal internship:
1
You’ll be introduced to your dedicated Program Advisor, who will guide you through the Supplemental Placement Questionnaire. This advisor will be your mentor, aiding in finding a placement that aligns with your goals.
2
Your Program Advisor curates internship options tailored to your preferences. The process may take a few weeks to ensure a perfect match.
3
Once you’re content with your placement, signing a Placement Acceptance Contract and a non-refundable placement fee secures your internship spot.
4
About four weeks before your program commences, the final program fee balance will be invoiced, and you’ll sign the VACorps Participant Contract, ensuring everything is set for your arrival.
When is the deadline to apply?
Apply early for the best experience
- While we don’t have hard deadlines, popular times (Jan/Feb and May/June/July) fill up fast!
- Applying 2-3 months in advance allows proper placement planning.
- Arrive any time except December to intern in beautiful Cape Town.
- Earlier applications mean more choices for you and more time for those who need to apply for visas
NB: We don’t accept applications in December because our participants return home for the holidays, and most of our staff take leave during
this period. Most internship sites also close during
this period, so December is not a good time to
start a new internship.
We aim to make the process straightforward, supportive and stress-free. Our advisors are available to help with any questions at any time during the application and placement process.
We look forward to welcoming you to Cape Town!
