Program Formats We Support
We work closely with faculty to design customized programs aligned with your academic goals and schedule. Programs can be based in Cape Town or include travel to other regions, and each trip is fully supported and accompanied by a VAC team member throughout.
Short-Term Programs
7–14 day programs during January term, Maymester, or winter break. Ideal for high-impact, fast-paced academic experiences.
Summer Programs
3–6 week programs with deeper engagement, including site visits, classroom sessions, and optional service or internship components.
Programs with Service or Internships

Who accompanies the group during the program?
A VAC team member is present throughout the program, supporting logistics, coordinating activities, and assisting both faculty and students on the ground.
Can programs include travel outside of Cape Town?
Yes. Programs can be based in Cape Town or include travel to other parts of South Africa or African countries.
What types of site visits can be arranged?
We arrange site visits with NGOs, companies, government organizations, and community partners across a wide range of disciplines, tailored to your academic focus.
Do students need visas?
For short-term programs, U.S. citizens and most European citizens to not need visas
Do you provide Visa Support?
Yes. We provide visa guidance and assist with any required supporting documentation for participants who need to obtain a visa prior to arrival in South Africa.
