Bathande Children’s Reading Club
Bathande Children’s Reading Club, established and overseen by Kholi, a one of your VACorps program advisors, provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners to discover the wonders of learning, their community, and themselves through the world of books. Presently, the Bathande Children’s Reading Club warmly welcomes over 80 young boys and girls, aged 4 to 13, on weekends. Here, they engage in creative learning activities designed to improve language skills andgrow confidence in their literacy capabilities. Kholi is consistently on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to contribute their time and expertise on Saturdays, as well as to assist with administrative tasks. Obs Pasta Kitchen
Obs Pasta Kitchen is a heartwarming endeavor initiated by Ferdinando’s Restaurant in Observatory, renowned for their delectable pizzas—the finest in Cape Town. Every Wednesday, the Obs Pasta Kitchen offers a warm bowl of pasta to the less fortunate residents, many of whom are homeless or transient, in the Observatory area. However, more than just nourishing bodies, Obs Pasta Kitchen is devoted to fostering connections with those who reside on the streets and establishing a sustainable, long-term strategy to uplift their lives. Obs Pasta Kitchen is actively seeking volunteers and welcomes donations. If you have the desire to extend a helping hand, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
