Hunter Mudd
2024
Hunter Mudd, from California, USA, participated in a performing arts education internship through the VACorps program from September – November 2024. Prior to joining VACorps, Hunter worked at the Lotus Creations Academy in Brooklyn, NY.
VAC has truly been the best experience of my life. From immersing myself in Cape Town’s vibrant nightlife and connecting with locals, to traveling along the Garden Route and jumping off the world’s highest bungee bridge, exploring South Africa has been an unforgettable blessing. Living in Cape Town has changed my life and shifted my perspective. Being surrounded by locals and embraced by the culture has taught me so much about generosity, openness, and love — it’s something you can feel in the air here.
I would recommend VAC to anyone and everyone who wants to broaden their horizons and rethink how they view the world. I came here looking for a place where I could explore new cultures and learn more about myself and my art — and I did exactly that.
Working with Kuselwa, Kholosa, and Rowan gave me all the love and support I needed to feel both secure in my internships and confident navigating life as a foreigner in Cape Town. Thanks to them, I now feel like I know how to stay safe, where to go, and how to make the most of everything the city has to offer.
I’ve completed three internships during my time here, and each one taught me something new. As an artist, adaptability and diverse skills are essential — and VAC helped me grow in all the right ways. The transition between each placement was smooth, and I felt supported every step of the way.
The VAC team genuinely cares about the quality of your experience. They’re attentive, flexible, and always available to problem-solve or switch things up if something isn’t quite the right fit. I truly couldn’t recommend this program more. VAC is the best — better than all the rest 😉
