“My three months time in South Africa is nothing short of amazing! It has been a life challenging experience in the opportunities of meeting other students/interns from all over the world, exploring the beauty of South Africa, learning its culture, and working alongside locals and having the opportunity to help its people. I truly enjoyed my occupational therapy internship at Athlone School for the Blind where I worked with students from pre-school to high school with low vision. A therapist at my said once told me, “When I give, I give myself.” This was true of the locals that I met here. I am grateful for the connections I made through VAC and I look forward to the next opportunity to return to SA and explore more of its beauty. I have gained so much more from this experience than I ever imagined.”
