“Living in Cape Town in the last 2 months under the VAC program has been nothing short of exciting. The program managers were friendly, down-to-earth and incredibly proficient at planning and executing a fun-filled yet focused internship for me. Easing into the local culture was made very easy by VAC staff when I arrived. My placement site (Treatment Action Campaign) was carefully selected to ensure I learnt as much as I could about the role of Social/Community movements in local healthcare delivery while weekly activities ensured I got to see and participate in most of the local attractions such as a tour of the vineyards at Constantia Glen and surfing at Muizenberg beach – the perfect mix of work and play. Needless to say, I had a fabulous time and look forward to future trips to the Western Cape – home of beautiful beaches and memorable braais (local word for barbecue). I recommend the VAC program to anyone looking for a hands-on internship in a friendly environment.”
