“Traveling to South Africa has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.  When I found out that my school partnered with VAC in Cape Town, I knew it was fate that I had to pursue this opportunity.  Prior to leaving the states, I set my mentality to embrace all unfamiliarity with an open outlook.  Upon arriving in Cape Town, I instantly felt comforted by the VAC staff, and all of the other interns.  Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and I knew that my three months would be nothing short of having the ultimate abroad experience.  Working as a social worker in a township and then being able to return to the beautiful suburb of Observatory gave me perspective on the vast worlds that people live in.  There is always something to do, with the adventures that Cape Town offers, and all of the exciting activities that VAC provides.  I found myself doing things that I never thought I would have the courage to do, such as paragliding off of Signal Hill.   I grew such a level of respect and appreciation for all of the VAC staff and interns, and I know that my experience abroad would never be the same without everyone I was blessed to meet.  I honestly consider myself the luckiest girl on the planet to have been able to live out my dream in such an amazing and fun filled country.  If you are considering interning abroad, put aside your hesitation and do it, because it is a once in a lifetime experience that will not disappoint.  I can sum up my entire experience by saying I lived so blissfully happy for three months, and for that I am forever grateful.”
