I came to Cape Town with no expectations, and after spending time here it turned out to be such an amazing internship experience that my only regret was that I could not stay longer than one month. During my time at Life Choices, I learned more communication skills with kids and young adults and I gained more understanding into how different people live and why that environment affects their whole life. There were moments that were heartbreaking to listen to, but luckily I was placed at an organisation that was helping these people out.
Throughout the month, VAC became my permanent family here in Cape Town with their patience, kindness and love. You will never feel bored or lonely because you have a large family and a lot of support with the staff and the other interns.
I really wish I could have spent more time in South Africa but I’m sure I will come back one day!
