Lynn P
2026
Lynn joined the VACorps program in January 2026 as part of her gap year. During the program, she completed a healthcare internship with a community-based medical organization in Cape Town.
I really loved my experience with VACorps. Moving to a completely new environment was something I was nervous about, but the program made the transition feel smooth and comfortable from the start. The weekly activities were always fun and engaging, and a great way to explore the city and connect with other students.
I chose this program because I wanted hands-on experience in the medical field before starting college and deciding on my major. During my internship at a community-based healthcare clinic, I learned a lot by observing doctors and interacting with patients, each with their own unique experiences. As my first experience in a clinical setting, it gave me a clearer picture of what a future in medicine could look like. I also found it really fulfilling to contribute in any way I could and felt a strong sense of purpose through the work.
