Rose participated in a refugee support internship in Cape Town with VACorps in 2016.

“Being an intern through VACorps is a great way to fully immerse yourself in the culture of Cape Town instead of just being a tourist. You will have a chance to do meaningful work that interns in places like the US would never get to do. An example is when we hosted a sports tournament with my internship place ARESTA. The tournament was hosted for the youth of a local township in South Africa. Over two hundred kids and professional soccer players showed up to participate. After the games we had debates about issues like drugs, violence, crime etc. The kids were so excited and eager to participate in the games and debates. I am so happy I was part of this organization and was able to do such amazing things in Africa.”

“VACorps prepares you to experience Cape Town in a fun and safe way, they offer continuous support throughout your time in Cape Town and give you opportunities to do weekly activities such as wine tasting, hiking etc. The staff at VACorps is really understanding and helpful, they also get to know each intern personally which is really nice. I would highly recommend applying to be a VACorps intern for anyone who wants to experience a new country in a unique way.
