2 1/2 months, 10 weeks, 72 days, and 1,728 hours spent in the beautiful city of Cape Town, which I am now fortunate to call home. Trying to sum up my experience in a small paragraph is nearly impossible, considering words truly can’t hold a candle to this immeasurable experience. From diving into shark infested waters, bungee jumping off the tallest bridge in the world, riding elephants in the eastern cape, to falling madly in love with all of the beautiful, soulful kids in my 1st grade class at Eros School, I can honestly say I am leaving with no regrets. My time spent working at Eros school has fulfilled my heart with a burning passion and undeniably reinsured me that becoming a special needs teacher is my destined career path. This entire experience has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and has left me with a newfound perspective, full heart, and friendships that will last a lifetime. A big thank you to the VAC staff for assisting me in all aspects of my experience and for becoming family. For the potential new interns reading this- say yes and embark on this life changing experience! Stop living your life from cradle to grave in the same monotonous routine- jump into the unknown. Go outside your comfort zone. Say yes to things you would never consider. Soak it all up because your time will soon come to an end, but the memories and friendships you make will last a lifetime.
