I spent three months working with the Treatment Action Campaign at their offices in the massive Cape Flats township of Khayelitsha. It was three months of highs and lows, being a part of their human rights activism and working towards fighting for better HIV and TB treatment for those across SA – but most especially those who are often neglected by the ‘systems’ in some of the most impoverished areas of this amazing country. The experience I gained through the opportunity given to me by VAC to work with such an incredible and active NGO such as the Treatment Action Campaign was absolutely invaluable to me, and has secured a decision to now pursue something similar as my career choice in the future. VAC were always on hand for some AMAZING banter on the Friday activities and all the other activities they arrange for the interns to experience and fall in love with Cape Town! To Vanessa, Marv, Andrew and the rest of you beauties on the VAC team – and of course all the interns who became friends who became family – THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS SUCH AN AMAZING THREE MONTHS. NDIYA KUTHANDA (I LOVE YOU)!!
