Jenna Fitzgerald
Corvallis, Oregon
2018

Jenna participated in a health promotion internship in Cape Town with VACorps in 2018. “My time in Cape Town has been absolutely amazing, and I attribute that to my internship, the people that I met, and the endless activities available in this beautiful city and country. I chose to complete a public health internship in South Africa because I wanted the best opportunity to learn about global health, as well as to apply my knowledge and skills. Thanks to VAC, my placement provided me with a unique opportunity to do just that. At my internship, I educated at-risk adolescent boys on health topics and had the opportunity to form strong relationships with both the boys and the staff members. Beyond my internship, my time spent in Cape Town was full of new friendships and new experiences, such as bungee jumping, safaris, surfing, and gorgeous hikes.”
