Nina joined the VACorps Program in January 2018 as part of her GAP year prior to beginning her studies at Bucknell University.  She participated in a Fashion Journalism Internship at a local Publishing Company.

“I initially chose Cape Town as a place to do an internship because I had never been to Africa and had heard amazing things about South Africa and Cape Town in particular. Everything I experienced lived up to and surpassed my expectations. After staying in Cape Town for three months, I can honestly say I plan on coming back and doing another internship and I’m even considering living there in the future. Interning at a fashion and lifestyle magazine definitely afforded me a lot of opportunities, like going to a horse race, managing social media at fashion shows and walking around the city center taking photos of the best street style. I enjoyed getting the opportunity to build my resume and my body of work with published articles and a multitude of different roles at my internship. I have never been involved in the world of fashion before and seeing and working in it was enjoyable and eye-opening. I made lifelong friends both inside and outside VAC, and I am so grateful for my time in South Africa. I’ll be back soon!”
