Ayanda (pictured center) is studying Mechatronics at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. He joined the VACorps program in June 2018 and participated in an engineering internship.
“I loved communicating with the other international interns and getting to know about their culture. I used to be shy but now I’m bold, and I think even my communication skills have improved. The interns were friendly and approachable, even my housemate was amazing and I really loved spending time with them.
The internship helped me to develop an understanding of the industrial environment. It also helped me to see the difference between University and Industrial environment. How pick and place machines function to place components for small circuits was really amazing. I’ve witnessed and participated in various tasks, which helped me develop an understanding of the industrial environment. Lessons learned from activities include building complex circuits and using microcontrollers.”
