Nicole H
Illinois, USA
2019

Nicole is studying animal science at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign.  She joined the VACorps program in 2019, where she participated in a conservation internship in the unique and beautiful country of Zimbabwe.

I could not have asked for a better experience at my internship site. From the moment we arrived, everyone was very welcoming and excited to have us. I was amazed by how many activities they were able to pack into our time there. Everything we did was exciting and fun but also taught us plenty about the animals and the community. I loved learning about the different aspects of conservancy including research, community outreach, and beekeeping. I never expected to be able to get so close to the elephants and rhinos, and even the free-roaming animals came up close to where we were able to get a good look at them. Our guides Bright and Diogo displayed a clear passion for their jobs and were so fun to be around. I would absolutely return if I have the chance!”
