Jacqueline Staver
Michigan, USA
2020

Jacqueline is studying Public and Nonprofit Administration with a minor in Women and Gender Studies at Central Michigan University.  She joined to VACorps Program in June 2020 and participated in a remote human rights internship.

“I was in the midst of looking for an internship for quite some time. I was narrowing down my choices when COVID-19 hit and all of my options were suddenly gone. I got an email about a virtual internship abroad and was immediately interested. I chose South Africa because I was very passionate about the organization I would be working for which involves human rights. I really enjoyed the internship work itself as well as the cultural workshops and buddy chats. I can confidently say I learned a lot and even made a new friend. I will miss video chatting every week the most and also communicating with my
advisors every day.”
